Based in Washington DC, Mr. Aparicio has created a loyal following as an instructor, performer, director and choreographer in the nation’s capital. He also frequently performs and imparts master classes in Chicago, including as part of the Annual Flamenco Festival and special programs organized by the Flamenco Arts Center and the Cervantes Institute. Miami is another regular destination for Mr. Aparicio, where he was invited to participate in the 2004 and 2005 Flamenco in the Sun Annual Festival together with internationally renowned figures Belén Maya, Pastora Galván, Pedro Cortés and José Luis Rodríguez.
In 2005 Mr. Aparicio was the choreographer for the GALA Hispanic Theatre’s highly praised production of Lorca’s Yerma, directed by the acclaimed Hugo Medrano. Since then GALA Theatre has become Mr. Aparicio’s base for presenting his eclectic company and for premiering his newest works. He is also a featured performer of the Theatre’s annual Fuego Flamenco Festival.
Mr. Aparicio is the artistic director and choreographer of the productions Al Andalús (sponsored by the Creative Alliance of Baltimore), Camino / al flamenco, and Encuentros, co-director and choreographer of Bailes Inéditos, director and choreographer of the nationally acclaimed productions Íntimo with Carmela Greco, which was presented in Washington DC, Philadelphia, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Portland OR, and at the Kean University in New Jersey, and Entresueño, which marked Mr. Aparicio’s New York City debut as a company director.
In 2007, Mr. Aparicio produced and presented Flamenco: Sol y Luna in Portland OR, Edwin Aparicio: Selected Works in Washington DC and performed in Las Vegas NV, as part of the production Spanish Nights on the Lake that featured the top echelon of the US-based flamenco artists.
